1) Establish a standard for trimming barefooted performance horses, and all barefoot horses, using the existing body of knowledge: scientific, historic, and last but not least, practical.
2) Disseminate this knowledge and practical application via training courses, clinics, lectures and trimming sessions on an ongoing basis.
3) Assess the ability of individual trimmers to perform to the above-stated standard, and their commitment to barefooted hoofcare exclusively (no shoeing), and provide certification to trimmers who have been approved by the Guild's examiners.
4) Provide Guild members and the general public with a forum to voice their concerns, tell their stories, and share their successes.
5) Provide the horse-owning public with access information to local (area) trimmers.
6) Liaise on behalf of the members with industry and Government agencies, and with the scientific community.
